When people ask what you can post on CoSell, the honest answer is "almost anything you have", which is true and also completely useless. Nobody's brain lights up at "almost anything".

So here are twelve real ideas instead. I've tried to put them in order from "oh, that makes sense" to "wait, you can post that?" Stay with me until the end.

1. A fleet of vans that sits still every evening. They work all day and then park. Somewhere nearby there's probably a caterer, a mover or a market trader who only needs a van after 6pm.

2. A car park with 200 spaces, nearly empty at weekends. Weekday commuters leave, the tarmac stays. Weekend markets, car meets, driving lessons, food trucks. Flat, empty space is surprisingly popular.

3. Delivery trucks that come back empty after half their routes. The truck is making the return trip anyway. Anyone who needs something moved in that direction is basically being offered a lift.

4. Several tons of hardwood offcuts every month. A furniture factory currently throws them away. To a woodworker, that's chopping boards, coasters, toys and a year of weekend projects.

5. Four hundred good enquiries turned away every month. A local business gets them from outside the area it covers. Right now the answer is "sorry, no". It could be "here's someone who can help", and that someone might pay for the introduction.

6. Thousands of searches for products the company doesn't sell. People are already asking. The demand is there, it's just knocking on the wrong door.

7. A feature customers love that isn't part of the main product. It works, people use it, and nobody on the team has time for it. Someone else might build a whole business around the thing the owner considers a side effect.

8. Twelve years of historical boat listings and asking prices. Collected as a by-product of a brokerage. It goes back further than the public sites. Data you gathered for yourself is often data someone else would pay to have.

9. A warehouse full of discontinued ceramic tiles. Out of the catalogue, still perfectly good. Set designers, restorers and anyone renovating an old house trying to match a pattern from 1994 might be very happy to hear about it.

10. Nine thousand people on a waiting list for a product that was never built. The prototype exists. People still email asking when it's launching. That's nine thousand people who've already said yes to something. I find this one quite moving, honestly.

11. The rights to a children's character from the 1980s. Nobody has used it in decades. The owner still controls the rights and would like it to have another life. Somewhere there's an illustrator, a toy maker or a nostalgic thirty-something with a podcast who grew up with it.

12. A bodybuilder's own body, as advertising space. He competes around South Florida. You can advertise on him. Temporary only, must be tasteful and aligned, which I think is fair. I actually saw that on X and read it three times the first time I saw it, and then realised it's exactly what CoSell is for. He has an audience, a stage and a very large, very visible surface.

None of these people know exactly what they want for what they have. That's sort of the point. You know what you have - say why you are posting, and leave room for someone else to see it differently.

So... what's sitting in your garage, your warehouse, your inbox or your hard drive that you've stopped noticing?
